Artist Statement

Clarity in the Moonlight
We have felt isolation at one point or another. A point where we’ve felt alone. Focusing on loneliness, the images have negative space which resonates with the viewer's feeling of being alone. However, the rest of the piece is then filled with images of some source of light, and moths because of their fixation on lights.

Having this fixation on moths it reminisce with the artist with Christian view point on how they are called to follow God’s light. There are also original quotations by the artist that relate in each work relating to biblical passages.

The artist herself identifies as a Christian. However, when looking at her work she wants the viewer to feel empowered to bring light to their world regardless of their belief. Darkness is simply the absence of light. Our loneliness is just temporary, we must find our people who help us shine the brightest. So, this is a call to action for all those who see this. Let us help light our corner of the world one at a time. These quotes are intending to be motivating to shine brighter so she hopes their viewers can also feel that way too. Though there is always someone who is holding us in their hearts. Someone who is our light in the darkness and hopeful we can be that for someone as well.
