Artist Statement
As a child, I was always traveling with my mom to different places. Now, I am someone who likes to be at home. I find myself not wanting to venture out, but still have the desire to travel and see the world.
These seven art pieces explore the themes of desire and travel as well as reflect my personal history. I was born in China, but came to America as a baby. Someday I hope that I can go back to China and other places as well. Each piece has a table under the window to signify home and stability. The windows have photo references taken by friends and family of the places that I long to see. These pieces represent my Chinese heritage with the long vertical format, which was inspired by the Chinese scroll. This theme is looking through different windows at various scenery that I hope to go to one day.
