Artist Statement
My art had always been filled with spontaneous connections and experiences, and recording these moments of redemption on different surfaces, utilizing unique mediums, is an intentional interaction. Each piece is saturated with deeper meaning and sweet reminders to pause and enjoy the simple moments of everyday life. The sublime beauty of daily mundane tasks, the practice of walking and documenting, and unexpected conversations allow for a variety of narratives to surface within each work.

Spending summers in Maine and residing the remainder of the year in Florida provides two very different environments to glean inspiration. These locations along with their people dwell within my work in organic ways allowing for refuge, protection, comfort, reflection, refreshment, or stillness to occur within.

Process has been my focus since beginning my M.F.A at Belmont University, Watkins College of Art, Summer 2024. My work in previous years has been commercially driven, developed for a particular clientele, now with a great amount of patience, I am seeking to uncover additional layers and depth to my work through the study of theory and important thinkers that are both historical and current to the art world. While my work was technically appealing to the viewer, as an artist there was curiosity to push this work further to grow and develop into work that resonates with a wider audience. This process is just in the beginning stages of development. My professor often says, “You don’t know what you don’t know”, this statement while simplistic has reminded me to remain rooted in my faith through allowing this process to widen my breadth of understanding.
