Artist Statement
In today’s world, it feels nearly impossible to be alone in nature. It’s hard to find any landscape that humanity has not left their footprint on whether it be cities or telephone poles strung throughout endless fields. The images explore natural landscapes that have been interrupted or taken over by us so that we are forced to think about the impact we are leaving on the spaces we occupy. I have many days where I feel uncomfortable or awkward in my humanness with the knowledge of what we have done/are continuing to do to our environment. I crave peace and a relationship with nature; however, it is difficult to find when we live in a society where the mindset is ego based rather than eco and we view ourselves as the owners.
