Illusion of Perfection
Life is not perfect. When it comes to human nature, it can be easy for some to fall into the cycle
of perfectionism. Whether in work, relationships, or life in general, most prefer to feel in control. While completely achieving perfection is impossible, understanding whose lead to follow is key.

It is hard to not worry about life; being concerned with the future is a natural human trait. We
might replay the "what if" scenario in our minds, but this can cause our thoughts to be strangled with fear. However, it is pointless to worry. When following God’s lead, it is essential to sometimes do what feels unnatural and let go of the reins. We may not know what the next step is, but God intends to turn what we might see as a mess into something beautiful. By allowing HIM to take control and paint our picture we discover that HIS way is perfect. God has a beautiful story planned for each of us.

This series explores the concept of perfectionism and walking the road of unpredictability.
Similar to our lives, watercolors are difficult to control. And when using this painting technique, control is NEVER guaranteed. The process involves applying paint to a pallet knife, wetting your surface, and streaking the paper to spread the paints, allowing the colors to blend as you move the paper. Unless you let the paints go where they will and trust the process, the piece will not look as unified in the end. The watercolors blend and the picture…well…paints itself in a way.

Elements of nature are represented in this series. God's sovereignty can be visually seen through nature as He sustains not only the birds and vegetation, but also his most valued creation, you and me. When creating these landscapes, I work with the direction of the paint resulting in an unexpected image. Although at first it might seem like a mess, beauty is the result of the struggle. By trusting the process, the most beautiful design appears out of this simple, yet complex technique. Even though we might not understand what God is doing and where He is leading us, we can fully trust that He has things under control. Jesus is our perfection, and He sees the whole picture.
